"You see, wire telegraph is a kind of a very, very long cat. You pull his tail in New York and his head is meowing in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? And radio operates exactly the same way: you send signals here, they receive them there. The only difference is that there is no cat"
Albert Einstein

TETRA Systems

The TETRA (Terrestrial Trunked Radio) system represents a digital professional mobile radio communications system. It can be integrated with private radio networks, with  a large number of subscribers, providing a gateway to Romtelecom, Vodafone, Orange and Cosmote networks.

The TETRA System is designed to be used especially by institutions that participate in emergency situations (Police forces, Fire Rescue, Ambulance). Through the implementation of private networks, the TETRA system can also provide secure communications in Commerce, Industry, Oil and Gas.
The TETRA System is based on an interoperability standard, which allows  equipment supplied by various manufacturers (Motorola, Cassidian, etc.) to be used in the same network.

The main advantages of the TETRA communications system over other technologies:
- Very high level of geographical coverage with a smaller number of "repeaters" (base stations), which causes a significant decrease in infrastructure costs;
- High-speed network connectivity  a call to several groups is generally carried out in 0.5 seconds;
- Under normal operating conditions, it does not depend on the speed of the vehicles equipped with communication equipment;
- Digital communication allows high quality calls
- The possibility of integrating geographical positioning features (integrated GPS module and standard NMEA protocol)
- Communication through "repeaters"  infrastructure  (base stations) or in direct mode (terminal to terminal)
- Communication can be achieved in several ways:
   - A subscriber to another subscriber;
   - A subscriber to multiple subscribers;
   - Multiple subscribers to other subscribers.
- The TETRA network can be interconnected with any other terrestrial communications network (fixed or mobile);
- Enhanced security of communications using  two methods of encryption: "air interface" and "E2EE"

Categories of beneficiaries:
- Government agencies
- Emergency services (Police forces, Fire Rescue, Ambulance)
- Transport services and military forces
- Private networks in the Commerce, Industry, Oil and Gas;
